Rudy Shankar and Kurt Zwerko Named New Board Members of Sustainable Energy Fund

Sustainable Energy Fund is proud to announce that Rudy Shankar and Kurt Zwerko have joined the Board of Directors.

Mr. Shankar, who is currently the Director, Energy Systems Engineering, at Lehigh University, has over 40 years business experience working in the electric power industry. His prior experience includes Vice President and Chief Technology Advisor for the Tennessee Valley Authority. In these roles, Mr. Shankar integrated new renewable energy resources into the legacy grid that included traditional fossil and nuclear resources. Mr. Shankar also worked as the president of a start-up energy company whose clients included the US Department of Energy and the International Atomic Energy Agency, and as a market director and program manager at EPRI, where he worked collaboratively with domestic and foreign utilities across the globe.

When asked why he feels the work of the SEF Board is important, Mr. Shankar stated “we must evolve to a sustainable energy future for the sake of coming generations.”

Mr. Zwerko has nearly 20 years of experience in the renewable energy, energy efficiency, LED retrofit, and carbon capture fields. He has led several organizations as a senior level executive, including Air Products and PPL, restructured and successfully grown several energy companies, and helped develop Pearl Street LED and PPL Renewable Energy. Mr. Zwerko has also acted as a consultant on Renewable Energy Business, Strategy, and Technical Issues for organizations such as NRG Energy.  He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from Lafayette College.

“I am honored to be selected to serve on the SEF board and look forward to helping the SEF to further serve the community by educating and promoting sustainable and regenerative energy solutions,” said Mr. Zwerko.

“Sustainable Energy Fund is thrilled to have Rudy and Kurt representing the organization as members of the Board,” said John Costlow, president and CEO of Sustainable Energy Fund. “They have both shown dedication to the field of sustainable energy and we look forward to their contributions to Sustainable Energy Fund.”
